Alan Watts was a philosopher, writer, and speaker who was best known for translating and popularising Eastern philosophy for a Western audience.
He authored over 25 books and essays on topics such as personal identity, the true nature of reality, the meaning of life, and the meaning of death.
Even though he died in 1973, his ideas and works remain significant today.

Watts was born in 1915 in England and raised in a Christian home. As a teenager, he began investigating Eastern religions and ideas, which led him to abandon his Christian faith and pursue a spiritual life outside of organised religion. He lived in Asia for several years, studying Zen Buddhism and Hinduism. In addition, he studied Taoism and Chinese philosophy.

Watts became a well-known lecturer on Eastern philosophy and religion after returning to England. He also started writing books on his experiences and observations. The Way of Zen, his most renowned publication, was released in 1957 and remains one of the most accessible and popular introductions to Zen Buddhism. Watts became increasingly interested in psychedelic drugs and their possibilities for spiritual growth and self-transformation during the 1960s. He wrote extensively about his experiences with LSD and other psychedelics, and he was a pioneer in openly advocating for their use.

Watts died of a heart attack unexpectedly in 1973, but his legacy lives on through his writings and music.
His theories have influenced psychology, philosophy, religion, and spirituality, and he is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in the 1960s counterculture movement.

Eckhart Tolle

(born February 16, 1948)

Eckhart Tolle was born in Germany in 1948. He was raised in a typical middle-class family and had a normal childhood. In his early twenties, he moved to London to study at the University of London.

It was during this time that he began to question the traditional values that he had been raised with. This process of questioning led him to have a life-changing experience in his early thirties, after which he devoted himself to understanding and deepening his own spiritual awakening.

After many years of inner work and self-study, Eckhart began teaching others about what he had learned. His first book, The Power of Now, became an international bestseller and has helped millions of people around the world to awaken to their true nature.

Eckhart‘s teachings are based on the simple but profound premise that our true nature is not the thinking mind, but the silent presence of awareness that lies beyond thought. When we identify with this presence, we are free from the stress and suffering that come from identifying with our thoughts. We can then live in the present moment, which is the only place where true peace and happiness can be found.
